Michael went directly from Graduate to Project Manager – “I always had leaders who believed in me”

Michael Kirkeby Hansen's career at GN highlights the importance of mentorship and seizing opportunities. Joining the company in 2018 as part of the Engineering Graduate Program, he quickly progressed to the role of Project Manager; And now, 7 years after his first day at GN, he holds the position of “Director of Program Management”.

Michael first discovered the GN Graduate Program at a career fair while completing his master's degree in industrial economy and technology management. Initially drawn to the project management track, he appreciated the chance to engage in cross-functional work. His Graduate experience included an international rotation at the Glenview office near Chicago, where he gained valuable insights into software development.

The Graduate Program provided me with learning experiences and responsibilities that I might not have encountered in a typical entry-level position,” Michael explains. One of his key projects involved launching hearing aids for a major partner, which challenged him and helped him develop essential project management skills.

Michael credits his success to the supportive leaders at GN who recognized his potential and provided opportunities for growth. “Having leaders who trust you is crucial,” he notes. Additionally, the graduate network has been an asset, allowing him to connect with peers and gain insights into various roles across the organization.
