GN ReSound’s announcement of the world first Made for iPhone hearing aid was much more than just showcasing the unique opportunities arising from a direct link between an iPhone and a hearing aid. ReSound LiNX™ is significantly upgraded with the new version of GN ReSound’s sound processing system, Surround Sound by ReSound™, and running on the new SmartRange™ chip platform. Along with the direct connection to the iPhone, it offers benefits never seen before.
The new SmartRange™ chip enables ReSound’s third generation 2.4 GHz wireless technology. It provides twice the performance without additional battery consumption and enables the industry’s best direct connectivity, including Made for iPhone.
The new upgraded Surround Sound by ReSound™ is based on breakthrough technology introduced with ReSound Verso™; Binaural Directionality™ optimizing listening in any sound environment, Binaural Environmental Optimizer II™, making transition between sound environments comfortable and finally DFS Ultra II™– the industry benchmark in feedback-free amplification. The two new features added to the system are Synchronized Acceptance Manager™ for easy end user adaptation to hearing aids and Sound Shaper™ frequency compression making the inaudible frequencies audible to the end user with less distortion.
The ReSound LiNX™ hearing aid is the smallest wireless form factor from GN ReSound ever – sitting discreetly behind the ear and offered in 10 hair and skin tone colors to reduce visibility. Along this, four receiver levels for optimal size and output ratio, which fits 90% of hearing losses, are also featured in the hearing aid. It also has five receiver lengths for precise physical fit, a push button for onboard access to multiple programs, a 312 battery for easy handling, secure receiver locking mechanism, new silicon microphones for optimized size and reliability and iSolate Nanotech™ coating inside and out making ReSound LiNX™ water repellant.
The hearing aid will be available in a limited release later this year followed by a global launch during the first quarter of 2014.
GN ReSound’s CEO Lars Viksmoen says: “ReSound LiNX again underlines our core strength of bringing breakthrough innovations to the hearing impaired, making them consumers with choices rather than patients with challenges”.
