All-New Product Portfolio from GN ReSound

GN ReSound launched the industry’s newest and broadest product portfolio at this year’s European Congress of Hearing Aid Acousticians, EUHA 2008, in Leipzig, Germany.

“We renewed our product portfolio completely in 2008, so today we have the newest portfolio in the hearing aid industry,” says Henrik Wiboltt, GN Senior Vice President.

GN ReSound was able to show new products in all segments when it welcomed guests at the EUHA Congress in Leipzig. The three GN Resound product brands – ReSound, Beltone and Interton – were all represented at their own stands. The new groundbreaking be by ReSoundTM hearing instrument – now being launched globally, was the big attraction at the ReSound stand – and at the congress in general. However, the other hearing devices in the broad-spectrum GN ReSound product portfolio were also studied closely by audiologists, dispensers, distributors, journalists, analysts and other industry professionals attending the congress.

New GN ReSound Products in All Segments

Compared with the products that GN ReSound launched at last year’s EUHA congress, the entire ReSound product portfolio has been replaced by new or updated products, and, also, both Beltone and Interton have introduced a number of new products in the 2008 portfolio.

“At the absolute high end of the scale, in the category we call ‘Lifestyle,’ hearing instruments such as be by ReSoundTM or dot by ResoundTM are now available for users, each representing unique comfort, design and performance,” Wiboltt relates.

At the other end of the scale is the Resound Essence. Launched in the fall of this year, this product is a conventional hearing aid effectively fulfilling a number of fundamental requirements for comfort, reliability and sound quality.

Under the Interton brand, GN ReSound has launched the wireless digital Relay device, which targets users who are deaf in one ear. The instrument sits on the deaf ear and works by receiving sound signals and wirelessly transmitting them to the non-deaf ear. The result is far better speech recognition, direction determination and a better sound experience for users in general.

Another product that raises Wiboltt’s expectations is one of Beltone’s latest launches.

“Beltone’s Tinnitus Breaker is a new concept that relieves the discomfort of tinnitus, and it can be implemented in Beltone Reach. With this concept, our product portfolio is complete. We have really launched our new, exciting concepts and products on a broad front, and this ensures that we will be able to meet basically any needs in terms of price and specifications,” Wiboltt explains.

Design and Lifestyle

A tour of the largest manufacturers’ stands shows a trend towards smaller behind-the-ear hearing aids and instruments whose colours and design appeal to young first-time users.

“There is an enormous focus on design and lifestyle products. Especially young first-time users want their hearing aid to be almost invisible, and they want it to be able to handle an active lifestyle. In this context, GN ReSound is well served with its be by ReSoundTM and dot by ResoundTM products. be by ReSoundTM is quite clearly the most remarkable product with its uniqueness and excellent reviews from both users and vendors. But also

dot by ResoundTM, which is the world’s smallest behind-the-ear hearing aid and was launched in January this year, got off to a very good start and is already a great sales success”, says Wiboltt.

2000 Visitors Daily

Headquartered in Germany, the European Union of Hearing Aid Acousticians is in charge of organizing the annual EUHA congress. This year’s congress was a three-day event with app. 2000 visitors per day, more than 100 exhibitors, and over 60 journalists covering the event. Next year’s congress will be held in Nuremberg.
