- June 1, 1869: Great Northern Telegraph Company was founded

- 1987: GN Netcom is separated from Danavox and starts producing headsets
- 1991: GN gets involved in DMT Dansk MobilTelefoni (Danish mobile telephony) later to be known as Sonofon
- 2000: Sonofon is sold to Norwegian Telenor for DKK 13.1 billion an GN’s subsidiary NetTest (former Elmi) buys French Photonetics for DKK 9.1 billion
- January 4, 2003: GN NetTest is sold
- October 2003: GN’s factory in Xiamen is officially opened by H.R.H. Joachim
- October 2, 2006: GN announces that it has entered an agreement to sell GN ReSound to Sonova for DKK 15.1 billion
- April 2007: German Bundeskartellamt prohibits the sale of GN ReSound to Phonak
- November 6, 2007: The sales process concerning GN ReSound is abandoned.
