GN To Convene General Meetings by E-mail

In the future, GN Store Nord will convene all general meetings by e-mail. That will save having to send out more than 43,500 letters to Danish and international shareholders.

During the winter, GN ran a campaign to collect e-mail addresses from as many of the company’s shareholders as possible. Shareholders received a postcard asking them to register their e-mail address through VP Securities’ InvestorPortal, which is where VP processes and manages data on GN shareholders. The shareholders who registered their e-mail address by January 4 were eligible to win one of two prizes each consisting of 100 GN Store Nord shares.

The two lucky winners were Klaus Jakobsen and Leo Jepsen, both of Denmark.

“I registered my e-mail address after receiving the postcard from GN. To me, this makes sense, because it helps reduce the impact on the environment and it makes it easier for me to classify the information I receive from the company. In fact, I’ve often wondered about companies that send out glossy brochures by post instead of doing it by e-mail. It’s easy to search your e-mail electronically, if you’re looking for something specific. Obviously, it’s also about your media habits and how you use information technology in your everyday life, but GN gets a point in my book for sending out the information electronically,” says Klaus Jakobsen of Åbyhøj near Aarhus.

Leo Jepsen also likes the idea:

“I’m all for GN convening their general meetings by e-mail instead of by post. When a company has more than 43,500 shareholders, sending letters by post quickly become expensive. Information technology and e-mail is the way to go. It’s something I support, so I registered the same day I received the postcard,” says Leo Jepsen of Skive in northern Jutland.

More than 7,200 e-mail addresses

At the turn of the year, more than 7,200 shareholders had registered their e-mail address in the system.

“I’m very pleased and also very surprised that so many of our shareholders have registered their e-mail address with us. That will enable us to provide information to our shareholders fast, efficiently and in an environmentally friendly way, and at the same time it means a substantial cost saving to us,” says GN Store Nord CFO Anders Boyer.
