GN Netcom Opens Web Shop

GN Netcom’s mobile headset business has just opened an web shop allowing customers to buy products from Jabra’s broad product portfolio of mobile phone and music player accessories quickly and easily.

The web shop has long been in demand, and now it is finally real. In the future, consumers in the US, Europe and parts of Russia can simply sit down in front of their computers when they wish to buy a Jabra mobile headset. It only takes a few clicks to find and buy the headset you want, and in less than six business days, it will be delivered to your address.

GN Netcom’s project manager, Linda Petersen, expects the new web shop to increase focus on the Jabra brand and strengthen the sale of Jabra products in general – web as well as in the stores already distributing Jabra mobile products.

Web shops increase sales numbers in physical stores

“Surveys show that an web shop has a spillover effect on the physical stores’ sales numbers. In the clothing industry, this effect means a store sale of up to DKK 500 for every DKK 100 purchase in an web shop. In the consumer electronics industry, the numbers are lower, but the tendency is the same. The surveys tell us that many customers browse the web shops to find information about a product, but then they buy the actual product in a physical store. For this reason, we consider the web shop a unique opportunity to promote the Jabra brand and to fuel our sales – web as well as through our business partners in the stores,” Linda Petersen says.

Not a competitor to our retail partners

The web shop only sells mobile products, and it does not compete with GN Netcom’s retail partners. On the contrary, it can support GN Netcom’s retail partners in their various sales and campaign activities. GN Netcom’s other products will still be sold through the existing channels and agreements. Linda Petersen explains:

“In the longer term, the web shop opens up a lot of exciting opportunities for our channels. Quite often, our retail partners do not have the complete Jabra portfolio in stock. The web shop now enables them to offer all of Jabra’s products – if the products are not physically in the stores, the customers can be referred to the web shop with a specific serial number and the retailers get a share of the web sale. We can launch special campaigns through our e-mail newsletters with references to our web shop and to specific retail channels – for example when a product is exclusive to one channel. We will be able to test new product concepts directly among the consumers and then sell them to the physical stores based on a well-founded indication from the web shop of the product’s potential.”

No significant investments for GN Netcom

The shop itself as well as its administration and distribution is managed 100% by an external business partner based in Malmö, Sweden. This setup means that GN Netcom has not made significant investments in the project and at the same time, we have a business partner with extensive experience in managing -based business.

“For now, consumers in the US, Europe and Russia can shop web, but in time, we hope to expand the site with more languages and thus more markets. To begin with, we look forward to gaining lots of experience from the web shop,” Linda Petersen says.
