GN ReSound awarded the Danish Design Prize 2008/09 for groundbreaking hearing instrument

The hearing instrument be by ReSound™ was among the winners when the Danish Design Centre last night presented the Danish Design Prize 2008/09 to a number of Danish enterprises at an event attended by HRH Crown Prince Frederik.

The Danish Design Prize is awarded to enterprises that have created innovative products and solutions of a high aesthetic and technical quality, which help demonstrate the value and stimulate the use of design in Danish enterprises.

The jury motivated their choice of be by ReSound™ with the following:

be by ReSound™ is an innovative and groundbreaking design for people with hearing loss. The design is beautiful and discrete, and be by ReSound™ is the first in its category of Invisible Open Technology (IOT) hearing instruments. be by ReSound™ is a newly developed instrument, designed to alleviate previous discomforts, such as plugging up of the ear, as the design now allows for air to travel in and out of the ear.

The design solutions were evaluated by an independent jury consisting of experts in business management and various design professions. The jury is chaired by professor and industrial designer Per Boelskifte.

Henrik Wiboltt, Senior Vice President of GN ReSound, said: “We are very happy and proud to receive the Danish Design Prize for be by ReSound™. The product has now been launched globally, and we have received positive feedback both from end users and professionals. Features such as be by ReSound™ not looking like any ordinary hearing instrument, being invisible in the ear and having an amazing sound quality are especially singled out.”

GN will now continue its long tradition of developing groundbreaking hearing instruments that revolutionize the industry and improve the quality of life for people with hearing loss all over the world. GN ReSound has previously received the Danish Design Prize for its hearing instrument ReSoundAIR.
